SHEL PIERCY - Director

Shel Piercy has produced, written or directed over 450 hours of film or television production over a thirty-year career.  Documentary films (producer, director, or writer) include: Leo’s Journey: The Story of the Mengele Twins (narrated by Christopher Plummer); Guinea Pig Club (winner of five Leo Awards and nominated for two Gemini Awards); Love & Duty: Canadian Red Cross Women in WWII (narrated by Catherine O’Hara); Ben Johnson, Drugs & the Quest for Gold (narrated by Keifer Sutherland – Gemini Award Winner, New York Festivals Gold Medal Award winner).  Fiction film and television includes: the feature film Almost Heaven (writer/director - Writers Guild Award nominee), the feature film, The Movie Out Here (producer).  He produced, and was the showrunner, for the first sixty-five episodes of the hit television series Love it or List it Vancouver (Love It or List It Too in the USA).  In 2016 he received a 2016 Canadian Screen Award nomination in the Best Director category for Love it or List It Vancouver.  His documentary film, Love, Hope and Autism recently premiered on CBC and received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Documentary and five Leo Award nominations including Best Documentary.  He is currently directing the international television series, Titanic: Stories from the Deep following the stories of the artifacts recovered from the wreck of RMS Titanic 12,500 feet below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean and starring Victor Garber.  He has created and is the Creative Director for Tunnel X: The Truth is Down There, a new exhibition at the Tunnels of Moose Jaw.  He is a member of the Writers’ Guild of Canada and Canadian Actors’ Equity Association and Vice-President of Theatre Under the Stars.  He is on the Advisory Council for the Musical Theatre program at Capilano University and is the recipient of the Ovation Awards Lifetime Achievement Award.


Francesca has worked in the design industry for over 15 years; from theatre set and costume design, to exhibit design for museum and cultural centres and interior design as the Head Designer on Love it or List It Vancouver for 4 seasons.
Francesca is both a collaborator as well as a self-motivated individual: she finds the exchange of ideas with colleagues to be stimulating but also enjoys the product of a determined evening working alone.
She strives to tell stories in all that she does, whether it is a design for a theatrical set, a museum exhibit, retail design, photography or room decor. Her interests and talents are varied and she looks forward to opportunities that employ and stretch her cultivated passions. Francesca holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Design and Theatre Technology from the University of British Columbia.

Lalainia is incredibly excited to see her vision of Steel Magnolias (with a cast of incredible women and friends) become a reality. Lalainia has previously co-produced shows for local company Bring On Tomorrow Co. (FAME - Firehall Theatre, Little Women - Kay Meek Centre for Performing Arts) but her best production to date has been running for 23 years - her marriage to Brad Strelau and their two kids, Caed & Aurielle. DAMON CALDERWOOD was born in Vancouver, grew up in North Vancouver, and began acting at a very young age. Some of his favourite roles include John Merrick in The Elephant Man (Pacific Theatre), Dylan Thomas in Dylan (Elder College), Billy Bishop in Billy Bishop Goes to War (Ace Productions/First Impressions Theatre ), Bardolph and Orleans in Henry V (Bard on the Beach), Man 1 in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (Oregon Cabaret Theatre), Sherlock Holmes in Holmes and Watson Save the Empire! (Ace Productions/First Impressions Theatre), and Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof (Royal City Musical Theatre). Recent credits include Hysterium in A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum (Blue Bridge Theatre), Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd (Snapshots Collective), Mr. Harari in Ruined (Dark Glass/Pacific Theatre), C.S. Lewis in Freud’s Last Session (Ace Productions), King Triton in The Little Mermaid (Align Entertainment), Mr. Bumble and Bill Sykes in Oliver! (Theatre Under the Stars), and Burl Sanders in Smoke on the Mountain (Pacific Theatre). Damon’s next theatre project is playing Franz in The Sound of Music with The Arts Club Theatre this fall. A passionate bird photographer, Damon is the author of four books on bird photography with his latest, Birding for Kids, coming out in the near future. Damon is also the proud Daddy of a 6 year-old son, Riley, and a 2 year-old son, Corey.


CHRISTINA SINOSICH - Costume & Hair Designer

Christina Sinosich's costumes have been seen all over Vancouver. Head designer for Theatre Under the Stars, Royal City Youth Ballet and was the head costumer at Royal City Musical Theatre for many years. She continues to support the theatre scene by connecting with many smaller and independent companies that may not have the budget that the larger companies have. Providing professional costumes and expertise at a significantly reduced rate in order to help theatre flourish in the city. She has won many awards including several Ovation Awards for best costume design for her work at Theatre Under the Stars and Royal City Musical Theatre. Chris was also a professional hairstylist many moons ago and reminds an expert in vintage looks from the 60's, 70's, and 80's.
