Lalainia feels unbelievably privileged to be creating this poignant piece of theatre with cast members who are not only power-house, multi-talented performers but inspirational, self-sacrificing, generous and kind women. She knows that these women, mixed with the passion of director Shel Piercy, who pours his soul into the text, the characters as well as the minute details of production will create something special, not to be missed!
Lalainia has worked in the Performing Arts industry professionally since the age of 8.  She began in film & television, however, once she discovered musical theatre, it became her passion.  Though she has extensive lead role credits in film (The X-Files, Sabrina The Teenage Witch; Dead Mans Gun, Disturbing Behaviour, First Wave) her main focus has been theatre, starring in professional musicals across Canada. Selected credits: TUTS: Mary Poppins, Bye Bye Birdie, Grease, Crazy for You, Big: The Musical, ARTS CLUB: Red Rock Diner, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Swing STAGE WEST: Cinderella PACIFIC THEATRE: Christmas on the Air, Smoke on the Mountain CHARLOTTETOWN FESTIVAL, ROYAL CITY, RICHMOND GATEWAY & JAPAN TOUR: Anne of Green Gables). Her directing and choreography credits include Grease, The Wizard of Oz,  The Sound of Music, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, A Christmas Carol, Annie, Fiddler on the Roof (Ovation Award – Best Director & Production), Cinderella, Seussical the musical, Little Shop of Horrors. Ranae grew up in Richmond and found her love of theatre at the Gateway Academy. The theatre bug latched on hard and she has never looked back. She attended Capilano University, where she earned her diploma in Musical Theatre in 2011. Ranae has worked with a number of companies around Metro Vancouver since then, some of her favourite credits include: Sweeney Todd (Snapshots Collective), Mary in Mary Poppins (Theatre Under the Stars), Legally Blonde, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Shrek The Musical – where her princess dreams came true as Princess Fiona (Align Entertainment), Broken Sex Dolls (The Virtual Stage), Guys and Dolls and Carrie The Musical (FCP). Ranae received the Applause Ovation award for Outstanding Newcomer in 2011 and was the recipient of the Theatre Under the Stars E.V. Young award for her work in Mary Poppins. This show is so special to her, and to work with this cast of strong women is simply the best. She dedicates her work on this show to her father who passed away from diabetes complications in 2011. This is for you, Dad!

CHY - Ouiser

Chy’s love for theatre began at the age of 4, with her professional debut in STOP THE WORLD, I WANT TO GET OFF. From that point on, in spite of all the twists and turns in life, Chy has continued to keep her finger in the theatrical pie, so to speak – with her most recent performance in MEMORY HOUSE seeing her character, Maggie, actually making blueberry pies from scratch each night. A few of her musical favourites would be LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (Crystal), CHICKENS (Butterball) and SASKATOON PIE (Alice)...hmm, is there a theme here? A variety of other roles in theatres across Western Canada would include WAIT UNTIL DARK (Suzie), BAREFOOT IN THE PARK (Cory) and THE GLASS MENAGERIE (Amanda). She has enjoyed several film and television opportunities including CBC’s ‘Inside Stories’ and a recurring role on ‘Marriage Uncensored’.
